There are so many spectrums of autism. The only way to know for sure is to have the child go through assements performed by a liscensed doctor. Some things to watch out for is developmental delays. Autistic children also tend to stay to themselves alot instead of playing with others.

If there appears to be a lack of understanding/comprehension. If there is very little verbal communication, no verbal communication or a loss of verbal communication. If there is a delay in meeting "normal" milestones.

It's very difficult to tell if a child autistic at age 2. Most pediatricians will just recommend that you wait and see. Most 2 year olds that have some autistic tendencies will just grow out of them. Even if takes them longer to develop, that's ok.

Children who are autistic tend to develop late. Your child may not talk yet or is having problems with speaking.

Autistic tendencies would be eye contact (not making much with people), affected by loud noises or sounds, has fascinations with certain things (could be numbers, toy cars, etc. ), their speech isn't developed, and has problems with playing with other children, or doesn't seem at all intersted (anything to do with social skills).
