Question by  chachi (21)

How can I get rid of roaches in the bricks of my patio?

I hate being out on the patio with my family or guests, and when you are having an otherwise lovely time, roaches come crawling out and it looks bad.

If you want to get rid of the roaches, you should spray raid all over the area. Another alternative is to clean the area with a bleach. You can also call an exterminator.

Borax is still one of the best and the least toxic methods of dealing with roaches. I would buy a box of borax and dust it onto the patio, then sweep it into the cracks. Borax kills the roaches and is non-toxic to humans. Use caution if you have pets in the area as it can be toxic.

Spraying them with soapy water will kill them. Also, soaking bread in beer will get rid of the roaches. Last resort would be a commercial spray.

Catnip is a natural roach control and plants can be placed in the area. Cucumber peelings, bay leaves, garlic, and citrus are other natural deterrents, and can be steeped in water and sprayed where needed. Diatomaceous earth is an earth friendly alternative that can be sprinkled in the area.

Your best bet is to hire an exterminator. They will come in and take care of the problem on a regular basis which should keep them from coming back.

Your best bet would be to call an exterminator and have bi-weekly or monthly sprays. Roach motels don't fare well outdoors and fill quickly. Aerosol spray like Raid only lasts a day or two, if that

There are insecticides and baits available safe for outside areas. One natural approach is to mix some Dawn dishwashing detergent with water and spray area, as roaches hate detergent.

Yes I know it looks very bad. You should use raid and spray effectively over the surface from time to time.

Many times outside roaches, or in some areas called water bugs, are very hard to rid. Since they love darkness and dampness, the outside bricks are perfect. Keep all garbage sealed and on other side of yard. Do not let foods, even pets, outside after use. Sealing the bricks will be your best choice for the patio area.
