Shoes should be worn with socks, a sockette to just cover the foot area, invisible outside of the shoe. It should be made of a light cotton to absorb moisture. Feet should always be clean. Feet should be sprinkled with scented powder. Also sprinkled in the shoe. When shoes are removed, they should be aired or vented before storing.

The odor is caused from moisture. Stuff the shoes with newspaper for several days. You can also try baby powder in the shoes. Wear socks with shoes whenever possible.

Personally I do keep a box of silica packs and put around 2 - 3 bags of it per shoe, this keeps the moisture and neutralizes the odor from sneakers to leathers, in addition prevention is still best by cycling through your shoes and avoid using them repeatedly.

I would puit Odor Eaters in your shoes to keep odor away. Also, always wear socks because sweaty feet leads to stink.
