How can I get my ex to pay for the divorce?

You can request in the divorce papers that the judge make him responsible for paying all fees associated with the divorce. However, this is unlikely to happen for the most part each party is responsible for all their own lawyer fees.

you must speak with a lawyer, you have to consult a lawyer to define what is paid for and who pays for what. If you have limited funds then something can be worked out, but it depends on what the lawyer and the law says about the payment for a divorce.

You can get a waiver if you can show an economic hardship. In some states if the other party is at fault they can be responsible for fees.

In most states, the party that files for divorce must pay for it. However, if there can be proof of abuse, the abuser must pay.
