Follow a bedtime routine nightly. It worked best for us to do a bath (with the the night time bath soap) quiet time, with soft music while get dressed and then a book or two. The number of books depended on the size / how long it took to read. Following daily began to work.

Make his room as comfortable as possible, and keep distractions such as toys put away at night. Possibly put in a nightlight, so he feels safer. If he has a safety blanket or teddy bear, keep it in his crib. Finally no matter how he cries, don't give in.

Try a night light or a CD player with music playing softly. Or lay down with them in their bed till they fall asleep. If that fails lay with them in your bed then move them to their bed after they fall asleep. That worked for me. Good Luck!
