There are many EVDO cards that plug straight into the USB port on your laptop. AT&T, Sprint, and Verison have these cards.

If you are wireless there are a lot of choices. Just ask the motel or hotel, airport, coffee shop and even some McDonald's have wireless. If you want something more reliable check with the major phone company and they have cards you slip in and connect, or blue tooth.

Find a place that has a public wi-fi connection. These can usually be found in airports, restaurants, and coffee houses. Once you've found one, talk to a staff member at the chosen establishment to find out their procedure for connecting to the service.

If you have a computer that is able to connect to a Wifi connection, just turn on your settings to receive wifi signals and look for a source. If your laptop can only be connected to network cables, then you are out of luck.

Most modern laptops are WIFI ready. All you have to do is connect to a WIFI signal. These days, free WIFI is offered everywhere. Restaurants. Hotels. Coffee Houses. Even some laudromats are WIFI equipped.

Public wi-fi is a great thing. If you have a way to use your own wireless router, that can work as well.

If your laptop has wireless networking capabilities look for a wireless hot spot in urban areas. Outside the city you'd need a wireless card from a mobile phone company.

When you are away from home, to get your laptop on the Internet, you can find a location such as a coffe shop or library that has WiFi, or use a wireless Internet service from your cell phone carrier.
