You can purchase liquid coatings that you apply over the existing cement to provide traction. You can also rent a grinder and roughen up the surface.

The only time I've heard of driveways being slippery is when they are shaded and have algae growing on them. I would recommend cleaning with bleach through a fertilizer dispenser that attaches to a regular hose, followed by a thorough pressure washing. You can rent one at home depot.

there are textured driveway sealers available for purchase... in one process you can seal and give texture to your driveway. if your driveway is steep, then you might need to repave it with pavers or with an asphalt or cement mix that includes lots of gravel.

i should note, that most driveway sealers are not textured, so you need to make a point looking for a textured kind.  add a comment

You can buy non-slip coatings that you can apply to your driveway. Any large home improvement store, such as Lowe's or Home Depot, will carry these products.
