If you have dry/under filled traps in the plumbing fixtures, fill the traps with water and add four ounces of mineral oil into the fixture/floor drain. If the sump pump lid gasket is leaking, replace the gasket. If the vent from the sump pump is cracked, find where it is cracked and replace with a furnco or replace the pipe.

You can get rid of sewer smells in the basement by checking that there is a water trap lower than the basement and that no gas leaks from a vent pipe. If the waste pipes appear in order, the problem may be poorly drained soil and not sewer smells.

You need to find where the smell is coming from first. If its something that bad it's best to get it fixed because the fumes could be poisonous.

Believe or not believe, you can fix this problem by using an onion. Yes, really, an onion that sliced from the middle makes this problem soluted.

This depends on what is causing the smell. Check your pipes and drains; if it is just a lingering odor, open the windows and use a fan and some febreeze.

The first step is to identify the source of the smell. Once identified then all that is left is to seal off the basement from the source of the smell. This may include sealing all concrete with a latex coating or binding pipes with insulataion.
