Sometimes, honesty is the best policy. Some employers are willing to give someone a break if you explain the circumstances. There are different ways to do background checks and it's possible yours won't come up, but lying and saying you don't have a felony can be risky.

A felon who has served his time can get a job. It may not be glamorous, or with children, but there is work.

Basically you have to know someone, start your own business, or go work for a small company. Most larger companies do background checks and will not hire convicted felons.
