Wood "mouldings" were hand carved into furniture in the majority of antique and expensive modern furniture. Currently, the piece of furniture is designed with extra space for moulding. The moulding is cut to size, construction adhesive is added, and it is placed on the furniture. Nail holes are pre-drilled and finishing nails are used to secure it.

You just glue them on. But they need to be glued on with a special wood furniture glue, with a strong hold, so they remain in place for aver long time. If the furniture you intend to aplly it on has varnish, than you should choose a different type of glue.

Wood mouldigs are added either with glue or wood tacs. Its quite simple to do with a tac gun. you just cover the holes with hole filler.
