Hypnosis tends to work best on people who are open to taking the suggestions of others. How open you are to following the behavior changes that are suggested to you while under hypnosis will determine whether or not this treatment will be effective for you. For it to work, you have to be dedicated to the idea of weight loss.

The research is mixed on this issue. Some argue there is nothing to hypnosis other than suggestion; others believe it results in a true altered state of consciousness. It may work for some people and for some disorders. Clearly, the relaxation that occurs can have a beneficial effect for some.

Hypnosis has been shown to work in many, many studies. It works by abstracting the subjects attention and placing suggestions in their mind. It can influence behavior but it has been proven not to work when the subject doesn't actually want to do the behavior. For example, if they are unwilling to try it, then hypnosis will not help.
