Question by  Sarah (39)

Do you think sacrificing one to save many is wrong?

I want to know what others think is morally right.

If you're willing to sacrifice one human life to save many, you're not only making the decision about one human life, but you're basing that decision on the unexamined proposition that twelve lives (for instance) are "worth more" because twelve is "more" than one. I don't think human value can be quantified that easily.

I think it is wrong in 99% of circumstances. To sacrifice someone.. to take away their life or their freedom is not a choice I could make. I would, however, sacrifice myself if doing so meant that I was saving my children, my family.
