Do vets prescribe ponazuril for rabbits?

I found a prescription for Ponazuril in my sons room and am concerned that he may be abusing it.

Ponazuril is a drug for killing protozoans in horses. However, it can be used in small animals against the internal parasite coccidia. If your son has a pet bunny that is showing symptoms of parasitic infection, it's not unlikely that the vet prescribed it.

Yes, ponazuril is prescribed for rabbits - often for treatment of coccidiosis and bacterial other infections. It is not known to have any narcotic effects or the like, so I wouldn't be concerned with abuse. Council your son not to take any medications unless they are prescribed specifically to him.

Yes they do, it's designed to kill intestinal parasites. I highly doubt your son would be abusing this drug due to the lack of euphoria.

Ponazuril is an antiparasite medication that is sometimes prescribed for rabbits when coccidiosis is diagnosed. Coccidiosis causes diarrhea in rabbits which can be life threatening. It has no human uses.
