Do I need to charge tax when selling home made hairbows?

I need to make sure I am following the law.

That depends on a number of things. Are those taxable in your state? Check with your department of revenue or an accountant in your area. Next, where are you selling them? Locally at craft shows/fairs? Or are you selling them online? If online, probably just out of state sales.

Unless you live in a state without a sales tax, you must charge a sales tax on all products sold to consumers. You could include the sales tax in the sale price and state such in your sales notices, then file the sales tax receipts yourself. This makes cash handling much simpler.
