Yes. Catalytic converters oxidize both carbon monoxide and unburnt hydrocarbons into less toxic CO2 and water, and reduce nitrous oxides to nitrogen and oxygen. High quality cats are especially effective.

No not really because they will get destroyed within the catalytic converter. Some of the cleaners claim to add life to the exhaust system. But how would they ever make it to the converter after passing through the engine and its moving parts then the converter which is meant to destroy by heat combustion.

Yes they work very well. They don't work like an air filter but cause a chemical reaction that takes dangerous gases and produces water as a byproduct. They work best once the engine reaches operating temperatures.

These types of cleaners are a hit or miss. I've heard stories of them working, and I've also heard stories of people having problems with their vehicle afterward. Be careful.

I highly doubt it. Most car maintenance items like that tend not to do a lot. As long as your cars engine is tuned up and runs relatively clean then it should be fine for many miles. However if you think you might have a clogged cat you should have it replaced after the proper testing.

Yes they generally do work to clean the exhaust on your vehicle. They are used to keep the air in our enviroment clean and they have been doing a pretty decent job.
