Do actors write screenplays?

I am a bit confused about the different roles and job responsibilities in the film industry.

Acting is HARD work. Some actors write or direct because they may have failed at actual acting. It gives them options when things don't go right. Usually a person talented at acting, directing or writing, wants to try the other things.

Actors have to learn the script to a film that they are appearing in. The script is often written by someone else. The person who writes the script (or the screenplay) is known as the screenwriter. Sometimes one person may take on both jobs of actor and screenwriter, they may also direct the film!

No, actors in a film are completely different than screenwriters. Screenwriters essentially write the script, a director decides how the scenes are going to look, and the actors act it out.

Many actors have written screenplays among them Ben Affleck and Sylvester Stallone and both went on to win an Academy Award for the stories.

They can it just depends on what they want to do. I think Zach Braff wrote Garden State. As this is not uncommon, but they do not have to. They can even produce them it just depends on what they want to do.
