The mint does make a gold George Washington coin. They are currently in the process of making a series of gold one dollar coins bearing the images of deceased President of the United States. So the coin you have very well may be real. If your coin is US currency it is valid.

Yes, they did make a George Washington gold dollar coin. It was released to the public on February 15, 2007 and is the first in a series of presidential gold coins. Hope that helps.
