There are lots of books and websites out there that are devoted to this, especially Barbies. Consider starting at the library and getting a good book on the subject.

You need to determine the era of manufacture and judge the condition. A large bookstore would sell a book on grading Barbie dolls. Considerations: Are arms, legs, head moveable? Type of eyes/hair? Original box / clothing? Barbie collectors have a nationwide organization. Consult MULTIPLE knowledgeable sources to determine value.

Well, the best advice I can give you is to search online auction sites for pieces similar to the ones you own. Online auctions are very useful for up-to-date information that simply cannot be found anywhere else. Another option is to search through reference books that are available on the subject of dolls.

You must check the value of the dolls and barbies you are tryint to appraise against others of the same kind. In the same way you check the value of anything else, quality and wear and tear affect the value.

The best way is to get an official Barbie appraisal book and although it won't give you exact prices you will be able to gauge what the market is

You can go to a doll show. There are always appraisers and buyers there. There are also local collectible shops that deal with dolls who will do appraisals or you can buy a book on doll collectibles and it will give you a good idea of how much your dolls might be worth.

Dolls have many aspects that factor into appraisal. One, the age of the doll. Two, the condition of the doll. Three, is the doll in the original box?
