Question by  Rhekyn (86)

Can you tell me a good source for ready-made frames that aren't limited to conventional sizes?

I can only find 5x7, 8x10, etc.

Craft stores are your best friend. Many of the places you go to buy crafts (Joann Fabrics, Flower Factory, etc) actually make custom frames. You give them the measurements, tell them the style you want, and pick it up later. You may as well go custom!

Ready made frames that aren't a conventional size are going to be very rare. Try a place like Hobby Lobby, or a specialty store. You could also buy a frame that has a backing or border and then take out the border, so that would be an unusual size that is ready made.

You can find ready-made frames at any Walmart, Target, K-Mart, etc. They have 3x5, 2x3, and even larger frames. Also, these places carry a frame that will hold multi-sized pictures which is great if you only want one frame. I have also hotglued several frams together to give an effect.

Print shops and photographers often sell unusual sized frames or will add a mount so that your print will go in an ordinary size. Other places would be architectural salvage shops, places that sell antique maps and prints and junk shops, often overlooked. sectional frames are cheaper than custom frames but can be made to fit your odd sized print.
