Vehicles equipped with it, activates itself roughly thirty seconds after you lock all the doors. If door is opened without keys, the trunk cylinder should be removed so that anti-theft system will respond. Refer also on your manual for further clarifications.

I don't think it can be repaired. It you take it to an authorized dealer then can make you a new key. It is pretty costly if you don't already have a good key to copy. But they can make you a new one. Cost like $100.
