Can you help me troubleshoot my direct tv if it says it is searching for the satellite signal?

You may need to go outside and re-aim your dish. There's a selection in the menu that tells you where to aim it. You need a compass.

If it has no signal to attach to then the tv won't work, trying turning the dish until you get a signal.

If your tv is searching for the satellite signal it is because the line of sight path to the sattelite is being blocked. Objects in front of the satellite dish can cause this as well as bad weather. You can also follow the troublshooter guide listed on your menu selection.

First, check to see if either your connectors have come loose or unplugged. Check to see if there is anything blocking the dish. If it is bad weather, this too can block a signal. Call your provider and see if there is a sudden outage.
