First get an exam by your optometrist. Dry eyes are a major source of RGP discomfort, as are allergies. Assuming you were fit correctly at your exam, you may only need over the counter drops to solve your problem. Try Aquify rewetting drops or Alaway for allergies. A professional eye exam is the best solution.

Since your RGP lenses are new you have to take into consideration you have an adaption period of 1 week. This means to get them comfortable you should wear them at least a week. Make sure you are also washing them properly. If there is some sort of irritation associated call your doctor.

There are several lubricating eyedrops on the market used to soothe the RGP lens. You should also use artificial tears even when not wearing the lens. The moister the eye the more comfortable you will feel.

While wearing RGP, you might feel some tickling inside eyelids. As soon as your lids gets used to that feeling, you will feel the comfort. If you are new to RGP, wear them for 3 hours on first day and increase by 1 hour as day progresses for about a week. By end of the week, feel the total comfort.

In our office when we fit people with rgps we warn them that they feel like rocks in your eye, and emphasize that if they can take the discomfort it will benefit them to enjoy the sharp vision, and, they get less infection. Mind over matter, don't give up on them.

I have RGP lenses. The first couple of weeks I wore them I could feel them on my eyes constantly and it was irritating. The best thing to do is make sure your eyes stay moist. Also, just keep wearing the contacts. It gets better with time.

Yes. It can take several months however. The reason that there is discomfort is because of the sensation of the RGP it's self on the back of the eyelid. To help your eyes adapt wear the lens for short, but increasingly long amounts of time daily.
