Death caused by emphysema is not a pretty site to behold. It is a mortal disease that causes you to hack your lungs up. It is typically caused by smoking and it is extremely painful to endure in particular the pain from the constant coughing and wheezing. You're also unable to breathe and almost feel suffocated.

The inital end-stages of emphysema are frightening and tiring. The body works very hard to provide itself with the oxygen it needs. When you can't get enough oxygen you begin to panic. Near the end, lack of oxygen slows the brain down until you are unaware of your predicament.
