like depreciating any capital asset, the cost of a website can be divided by the useful period, or it can be depreciated through the double declining method, where the asset (website) will lose a percentage of its original value every time period, say forty or thirty percent of its cost

You could, but it would not be considered GAAP. The value of a website or domain does not actually go down.

I'm not an accountant but I am a web developer. I can say for certain the value of a purchased domain/website can go down over time, and it's FV is uncertain.  add a comment
