No they can not be compared. 2 different sounds. Arch is for jazz. Flat top for country, bluegrass and folk.

An arch top guitar has a carved sound board that rises in a curve as it goes from the sides to the middle of the top of the sound board. A flat top guitar has a flat soundboard, where the top and back of the guitar are consistent throughout.

Arch top guitars have a convex top on the body, where as flat top guitars have a flat, level top. While there is a tiny difference in the tone between the two styles, the main difference is a matter of comfort and aesthetic preference.

The top of a flat top guitar is what it says, it's flat. An arch top guitar has a slightly arched top on it. It has somewhat of a curve to the top of it. The sound difference isn't huge, but some musicians say that arch tops sound warmer.

An arch top guitar is made with a concave piece of wood for the front face of the guitar. The curvature of the the wood gives the instrument a unique, sharp tone. A flat top guitar is made with a flat piece of wood across the face of the instrument.

Is it is possible to compare an Arch top and flat top guitar. In my words it is very difficult. Flat to guitar is very good to the vision. Its strings are on the flat position and the sound is very good. Arch top guitar is also good looking. And its strings are started from its edge and sound defers.
