Can you apply for Illinois unemployment if your hours are cut down?

My hours were cut almost in half.

In most states you are elgible for unemployment benefits if you work less than 24 hours per week by reason of cutback. A lot of companies will work a person one hour over the minimum just to make sure you're not eligible. You will have to call your unemployment office because different jobs and situations may make you eligible.

No, because you are not unemployed. You need to be unemployed to get umemployment and your employer has to sign off on this. You can try to get assistance with food and that depends on the amount of money you make and how many are in your household.
