Can I use a PVC pipe to run water inside my home?

I am doing some plumbing work in my home and all I have on hand is PVC pipe, if I use it will I be within code?

It depends on where you live and what codes they have. If you are just repairing a drain or something like that PVC is perfect. There is a different type of plastic they are using these days for plumbing the entire house. It is called wirsbo pipe and is very different from what I know.

You will want to use either copper pipe or pex. Sorry, but you will not want to use PVP pipe to run water throughout your house. Do it the right way and go buy some materials.

in the uk you can use a push joint pvc system for all water instalations its called hep 2 o really easy to use you just push the connector and thats it

Yes you can, but it is best to use cold water only. If you use hot water you can allow expansion and contraction of the pipes and they may crack or burst.
