For general acid reflux, Prilosec can be taken once daily 30 minutes before breakfast. However, it is advisable to take twice daily if the reflux is severed. It is cheaper alternative to Nexium. For H. Pyloric patient, the regimen requires the patient to take twice daily.

For the standard Prilosec perscription, you should follow the instructions and take one per day. You can always supplement with a Tums if you need to (in moderation).

It is safe to take upto three Omeprazole 40 mg [Prilosec] in 24 hours without any side effect or adverse reaction but reduce the dose ASAP to normal prescription.
