The two do very different things. St. John's Wort is for a better mood, while Xanax is foor depression/bi-polar. Consult you doctor before taking any additional meds. It may not hurt anything for you to take it, talk with your doctor first.

St Johns Wort actually contains so little in a daily dose that you need to quadruple it to mimic a prescribed anti-depressant. That said, I know it to be very effective in normal doses, and safe with Xanax, but you need to check with your pharmacist to be sure.

You can probably combine the two without problems, but it is always a good idea to discuss these things with the physician who prescribed the Xanax. You can also talk to your pharmacist about it. SJW is a "supplement" but can affect people differently.

Yes, you can. Because St. John's Wort is for taken for depression and Xanax for anxiety, the two medications have very different functions and you should not experience any problems if you decide to take both.

Be careful about mixing psychotropic medications. St. John's Wort, though herbal, can interact with other medications, and you should always tell prescribing physicians you are taking it before mixing medications.

It is not recommended to take St. John's Wort with Xanax because it can increase the speed of how fast the body gets rid of Xanax and decrease it's effectiveness.
