breastfeeding

Question by  chad36 (14)

Can I get my ears pierced while I am breastfeeding?

I have never had my ears pierced and was thinking of getting them done in the near future but do not want to risk hurting my child.

You risk contracting a blood borne disease or infection in body decoration procedure that involves breaking the skin if needles used are not properly sterilised or are contaminated, but if it is a reputable place, you are probably safe.

You sure can! Getting your ears pierced will not affect your milk supply at all. All you are doing is getting a hole through your ear!

There is no harm from getting your ears pierced while breast feeding. This has no effect on the child unless you take oral pain killers or antibiotics afterward. Just don't get a nipple pierced while breastfeeding.

I don't see a problem with getting ears pierced while breastfeeding. as long that you don't pierced the baby or get shock and hurt the baby somehow

Piercing your ears should not affect your milk supply. Be very careful with hygiene, to prevent infection, and having to take antibiotics which could be expressed in breast milk.
