Can I convert my DC power camper to solar power?

It is possible to do this, but it's very expensive, and is often unreliable when you need it most. The solar panels require lot's of work, keeping them clean and working. The solar panels won't work on overcast days, and often, won't store enough energy for overnight camping.

There are great solar panels available now at They plug directly in to your cigarette lighter or can be hard wired to your camper for a more permanent look.

Yes, you can do the conversion. RV dealers sell kits to covert to solar power. DC appliances can be connected through a fuse panel directly to your batteries. A good quality solar panel can deliver about 3 amps of power during daylight hours. A conservative estimate for sunny weather might be 6 good hours of full solar power daily.
