Can a rash permanently scar your skin?

I've had a rash for a couple days. It's starting to go away. No prescription medications. The red bumps look kind of like little red scabs but they aren't scabs. Could my skin be permanently damaged

Most rashes do not cause skin to be damaged permanently. The exceptions to this would be sever acne scarring or diseases such as small pox. Usually scarring is not caused by the rash itself. Scarring is usuually caused by "picking" at or scratching existing scabs. Unless there is a burn to the skin, there should be no permanent scarring.

You will not be able to tell yet, and many of those marks will fade over the next couple of days. Usually, a rash will only scar if you scratch the place where it is and more seriously damage the tissue around the irritation; don't worry too much over it.

It is rare but rashes can cause scarring depending on the type of rash, the severity of the rash and if the skin was broken by scratching.

The answer to this question would depend on several factors, such as the severity of the rash, and whether or not there were any complications. But, it's not likely.
