there is a thing called seasonal depression in which a person seems more down or affected negatively during the colder or winter months. Usually the person will return to their normal or more content mood when the warmer or sunnier climates return. This disorder can be treated by things such as light treatment.

Yes! It's called seasonal affective disorder and is a very widespread problem, especailly in places that have very short days (ie: Alaska). Getting a sunlamp has proven to help, as well as making a conscious effort to increase your light exposure, even artifical light. If that isn't helpful you need to see a doctor.

Without a lack of natural light, it is very easy for a person to become subdued or depressed feeling. Sunlight is good for your body, so during times when there is not much available, your body reacts by feeling drab.

You could have seasonal affective disorder, which is a depression that occurs when the season changes. These mood changes are thought to be due to the changes in light. Lack of sunlight can lead to vitamin D deficiency, which can underlie depression. Treatment can consist of light therapy and medication.
