It depends on the age of the child and how big they are. A child can play any size guitar its just a matter of how comfortable they will be playing a larger guitar.

It all depends on the size of the child. If the guitar is full sized, then the child might be a bit small, but he can grow into it without having to buy another one.

It is possible to start a child out on an adult sized guitar, depending mostly on the size of the kid's hands and lenghth of his arms, and how long one guitar will have to last him.

A kid can certainly play a full sized guitar. There may be some difficulty stretching on the lower frets at first but in the long run it will only improve the players ability as they get older. The main concern is likely to be responsibility; many kids don't understand the difference between a musical instrument and a toy- teach responsibly!

It really depends how large his hands are. If he can wrap his hand the neck of the guitar, and have his fingers and thumb touching, then he should be fine.

Playing adult guitar is only possible after the child's hands are large enough to hold the instrument. Guitar varies from 1/4, 1/2 ,3/4 and 4/4sizes depending on the age

Yes, definitely! My kids started at 8 years old playing a full sized Alvarez. Buy them a Sigma or Alvarez (around 300. 00) and let them begin with something nice that frets easy and sounds great. Do not buy the 'Johnson' guitar or something from Wal-Mart. If the guitar plays easily, they will want to continue with it!
