If your talking about a food slicer that's usually silver and has a blade that spins then yes, it's can be used for meat or vegetables. I have one of these and absolutely love it. If you're talking about something like a salad shooter than no. It only causes a mess of the meat.

Food slicers are built to handle both thick meats and tender vegetables. You will be able to cut anything from cucumbers, to ham, to carrots, to beef. One important thing to remember is that you MUST wash the slicer in between items so as not to get cross-contamination.

Most food slicers are equpped to slice both vegetables and meat. There are usually different blade settings that you can choose depending on the consistency and hardness of the food.

In short, yes. But you have to remember that it is meant for meat and bulky foods. If the vegetable is big enough, it'll work. And be careful!
