It depends on the dog. Garlic can be toxic for dogs and should only be consumed in small quantities under close supervision. It can be used to keep fleas away assuming the dog does not have an adverse reaction to the garlic. If the dog isn't allergic then small amounts once in awhile shouldn't hurt.

Even though a dog may want to eat garlic, it is toxic to dogs and should never be given to them.

Yes if you make homemade dog biscuits it does help control the fleas, it keeps them from attaching to the dog the fleas don't like the bitter taste it will be put into the dog's bloodstream. The garlic can be a natural deterrent from the fleas to be biting and causing an infestation on your pet.

Yes, they can. It helps to keep down fleas and ticks with some animals. There are many products available commercially that contain garlic, but you can also use it yourself when you cook for them. There are dog treat recipes that use it, and we also put it in chicken broth that we pour over their dry dog food.

As an ex-dog breeder and trainer I have had many dogs over my life time and still do. I have fed my dogs garlic supplements for many years and have had no severe consequences. It has even been known to repel mosquitos and fleas thus being beneficial.

Since dogs stomachs work differently than ours, there are things that we can eat that they shouldn't. Garlic is one of those things. garlic, whether its raw, cooked, or powdered can cause harm to your dog. It contains sulfoxides and disulfides that can damage red blood cells and cause anemia. Onions can have the same negative affect.
