There's no law requiring notice to your employer when quiting. All employment is at will. It is simply a courtesy and good idea to give one.

Assuming you are an at-will employee then you are not required to give any notice before leaving your job. Instead it is viewed as a professional courtesy and is a way to reduce the possibility that you do not 'burn any bridges' that you may need in the future.

No, by law you are not required to give a 2 weeks notice. However when you got to your next job it might be asked if you did.

If you have a contract, either written or implied, your employer could legally deny you some benefits, such as accrued vacation if you don't give 2 weeks notice. You probably should check the company policy before you decide what to do. So, it appears that you don't have to give notice by law but it would be considerate of you.

There is no state law the requires you to give a notice. The two week notice is a chance for the employer to find a replacement for the leaving employee.

No, it's not by law. However, it is respectful. No matter how angry you might with the job you're leaving, it is never a good idea to burn bridges. You might think you never have to see this boss again, but people change jobs all the time and strange things happen...so give at least two weeks notice.

It depends on your location and the company general, you should notify your boss at least one month early so that he can make related arrangement.

Yes by law you have to give two weeks notice that you are leaving the job and you are looking for good opportunities for yourself .

NO, the schmuck answer above me (Hassan67) is WRONG. You don't owe your employer anything and is NOT required by law. Ask yourself a simple question, is it required by law for your employer to give you two weeks notice when firing you??  add a comment
