Tapeworms are not contagious unless you happen to be eating your friend's feces which I highly doubt you are doing. Tapeworms normally lay eggs in the meat of the animal that they have infected and in the feces of the animal that they have infected. It's okay to be around your friend. You will not catch tapeworms.

Tapeworms, "may" be contagious. It is not common to recieve it, though. The only way for a human to contract it would be to eat the poop of another human, which, I dont think you will do so you are in the clear. Make sure you and the carrier wash your hands after every restroom visit.

Tapeworm is only contagious if you eat food or drink water that contain the eggs or have bare skin exposed to the larva. Casual contact is fine.
