There are a lot of different types of lizards, some of which are nocturnal. The majority, however, are not. Lizards are cold-blooded, so they need the sun's warmth.

Some lizards are nocturnal, some aren't. For example, bearded dragons are diurnal, or awake during the day. Leopard geckos are awake at night, they are nocturnal. Remember, do not house different reptiles and amphibians together.
