Many times a 99 cent store sells factory seconds from compaines. Usually that is an item that does not meet the factories quiality control expectations. It might be a shirt with button missing, or it might be a misprinted bottle of shampoo. Most items retail for more than 99 cents.

Any store that sells at a dollar or less generally carries end of market products. The regular stock is generally in smaller containers than a name brand store so you are getting less for your money.

99 Cent Store sells items that are under $5. About half of their inventory is 99 cents or less. Most of the items cost far less than this to make.
